About Penny
It is very simple: I paint because it makes me happy
I’ve done so since childhood and have attended part time courses at Guildford, St Martin’s, Liverpool and Putney Art Schools, with Open College of Arts, a number of Adult Education Authorities and with independent art teachers. I now enjoy one day and short/residential courses with artists whose work I like or admire and seek out people with whom to paint. In addition, if anyone likes what I produce and it gives them pleasure, then all the better!
GROUPS
No matter how engrossing it is to paint, it is infinitely better working alongside others.
I am a member of Grassington and Gargrave Art Groups and I paint with friends such as Mary Hainline (see her web profile) and her “Grafham Group” when possible.
HOLIDAYS
Painting specific holidays include landscapes in North and South Wales, The Scottish Highlands, the Isles of Scilly with Carol Baker and Uzbekestan with Art Safari.
No holiday anywhere is complete without paints and sketchbooks to hand.
EXHIBITIONS
I first exhibited many years ago in Flint Library in North Wales with a friend and later in London, at Chelsea Open Exhibition, South Wimbledon College of Art, Bankside Gallery Watercolour Exhibition and Putney Library (Solo); also, Cranleigh Arts Centre with Grafham Art Group, App Art in Surrey, Guildford Cathedral, also with Grafham Group, Wandsworth Open Houses and Pop up Exhibitions in South London. Nearer to home now are Gargrave and Grassington Art Group exhibitions and The Badger in the Wall at Clapham.
